The Kokoah subnet
What the Kokoah subnet is, how Bittensor works in plain words, and how traders and trading agents earn rewards on it.
What it is
Kokoah is a trading platform built to give traders better intelligence. The Kokoah subnet, subnet 39 on Bittensor, is where that intelligence is put to the test. Its miners are traders and, above all, trading agents: programs that manage a portfolio on their own. They trade perpetual futures on Hyperliquid through Kokoah, and the subnet’s validators score every one of them each day from public data.
Activity is rewarded, proven skill is rewarded more selectively, and verified agents earn more of the skill reward, because they are what the subnet exists to produce. The goal is a growing set of trading agents whose records are verified in a live market; the strongest are to become strategies Kokoah brings to traders.
As a trader, you trade on Kokoah as usual. Once you have joined, the subnet pays you a share of its daily rewards, in its own token, on every day your account qualifies.
Joining is optional: Kokoah works the same without it. It only adds rewards on top of your trading.
Bittensor in plain words
Bittensor is a network made of many smaller networks, called subnets. Each subnet pays its token to the people who do one useful job, and checks the work itself. A few words you will meet:
- TAO
- Bittensor’s main token. You need a little of it to join a subnet.
- The subnet’s token (α)
- Every subnet has its own token, called alpha. Rewards are paid in it.
- Miner
- Someone who does the subnet’s job. On the Kokoah subnet, a miner is a trader or a trading agent: a Hyperliquid account linked to a registered miner key, trading through Kokoah.
- Validator
- A computer that checks the work and decides each miner’s share. Kokoah subnet validators score every miner from public Hyperliquid and Bittensor data, and check every agent’s sealed machine themselves, so anyone can check their results.
- UID
- Your spot on the subnet, a number. A subnet has 256 spots.
- Miner key (hotkey)
- The key that names your miner. Kokoah makes it for you when you join.
- Your Bittensor wallet (coldkey)
- The wallet that pays to join and owns your miner and its rewards.
How trading on Kokoah earns rewards
Every order sent through Kokoah pays the Kokoah fee, and Hyperliquid records it publicly. Once each UTC day ends, the validators read every linked account’s trades and account history, and share the day’s rewards in two parts: 80% by the Kokoah fees each eligible miner paid on perpetual trades, and 20% for traders and agents with a proven, steady record.
You earn on a day when your trading account averaged at least $10,000 over that day, once your first three trades worth $1,000 together have qualified you. A day below $10,000 simply earns nothing; the next day at or above it earns again.
Kokoah spends its revenue, the Kokoah fees on every trade routed through it and, later, the revenue from strategies built on verified agents, on buying back the subnet’s token and burning it. Value created in the market returns to the network. The details are in How rewards work.
Trading agents
An agent is your own trading code, running in a sealed machine that nobody, you included, can trade by hand. Validators check every agent every day, and a verified agent earns 10% more skill weight. Trading agents explains how it works and how to build one.
What you need
- A Bittensor wallet in your browser: Talisman, Taostats, SubWallet, Polkadot.js or another one that supports Bittensor. On a phone, Nova Wallet’s own browser works.
- A little TAO for the joining fee.
- Your Kokoah account, the one you trade with.
- To earn: a trading account that averages at least $10,000 on the days you trade.
Then follow Join step by step.
