Problems and questions
What to do when joining doesn’t go as expected, and answers to common questions.
No wallet was found
Install a Bittensor wallet in this browser, create an account in it, then press I installed one, check again or reload the page. On a phone, open kokoah.com in Nova Wallet’s own browser.
Not enough TAO
Send TAO to the address shown, on the Bittensor network, and check again. You need the joining fee, a fifth more as room in case it rises, and a tiny network fee. The quickest way is Swap TAO: buy it with USDC on Kokoah and have it sent to that address.
The registration didn’t go through
The fee may have risen above the room Kokoah allowed, or the subnet may not accept registrations for a moment. Nothing is charged beyond the network fee. Wait a little and press Register again.
Registered, but the link failed
Open the subnet page in the same browser. Kokoah remembers your progress there; press Publish the link, which is free.
My wallet shows only one account
A Bittensor wallet shares with kokoah.com only the accounts you allowed when you first connected it, and Reconnect my wallet doesn’t ask again. Open the wallet’s connected sites (in Talisman: Settings → Connected sites → kokoah.com) and turn on the other account. It appears on the page by itself.
“This account owns miners, but it isn’t a miner’s hotkey”
Every miner has two keys. The coldkey is the wallet that paid the fee, owns the miner and receives its rewards. The hotkey is the miner’s own key: it signs the link to your trading wallet and approves moving it. You picked the coldkey where the hotkey is needed.
- Joined with “Create a miner key for me”: the hotkey is the key Kokoah made in your browser, kept there only until your miner was linked. To sign with it later, add it to your Bittensor wallet with its 12 words (in the wallet, never on a website).
- Joined with an account from your wallet: the hotkey is that other account. Share it with kokoah.com in the wallet’s connected sites and pick it.
Move your miner to another trading wallet
- Sign in to Kokoah with the wallet your miner trades from and open Settings → Subnet miner → Move to another trading wallet. Enter the new wallet’s address and sign with the current wallet.
- Sign in to Kokoah with the new wallet, open Settings → Subnet miner and sign with it.
- Approve with the miner’s hotkey: the key Kokoah made in this browser does it by itself; otherwise approve in the Bittensor wallet that holds the hotkey. There is no fee.
- From then on your miner trades from the new wallet, and the old wallet is free. The fee credit and qualification start again; the skill record and any penalty stay.
A miner can move once every 60 days, counted from the last time its wallet was linked or moved.
Use a new miner with my wallet
Your wallet stays with its current miner until that miner moves to another wallet or leaves the subnet. Then register the new miner and link the wallet on the Register page. The new miner starts with no credit, qualifies again and builds its skill score from zero. The wallet’s own trading record, which the 90-day test reads, stays with the wallet, and so does any penalty.
I lost my 12 words
Your miner keeps working and its rewards still belong to your Bittensor wallet. Moving it to another wallet needs its hotkey: in the browser where Kokoah made the key it still signs by itself, but anywhere else it needs the 12 words. Without them the miner can’t move its link. Contact support if you need help.
Questions
- Do I need the subnet to trade on Kokoah?
- No. Kokoah works the same without it.
- Does joining touch my trading money?
- No. Your money stays in your Hyperliquid account. The link is one signature that can’t trade or move money.
- Can I join with more than one account?
- Yes, but each needs its own registration, fee and spot, its own $10,000 average and its own qualifying trades. Splitting the same trading over more accounts earns nothing extra in the volume reward, which follows fees. In the skill reward, each account is judged on its own record.
- Why didn’t I earn today?
- Most often your account averaged under $10,000 that day, or your miner hasn’t qualified yet with its first three trades worth $1,000 together. Spot trades, trades with your own accounts and trades with other registered traders never count either. Your trading is still recorded, and the next day you meet the rules earns again.
- Can one trading wallet link to two miners?
- No. One trading wallet links to one miner, and stays with it until that miner moves to another wallet or leaves the subnet.
- Can I move my miner to another wallet?
- Yes, once every 60 days: both wallets sign and the miner’s hotkey approves, with no fee (see Move your miner to another trading wallet above). The fee credit and qualification start again.
- Can I mine with my own trading program?
- Yes, as a trading agent in a sealed machine. See Trading agents.
- Does Kokoah see my 12 words?
- No. They are made and kept in your browser, and never sent anywhere. Kokoah never asks you to type them: to use the key elsewhere, add it to your own Bittensor wallet.
